WANDER ‘ROUND THE VALLEY
The Wanderwell House is within 15 minutes of Attitash, King Pine, Cranmore, and Wildcat; and a mere 20 minute drive from Mount Washington Auto Road. We’re located right in the heart of the valley, and you’ll find most of the area’s best attractions are only minutes away. For even more information about the spectacular communities here, read on!
North Conway
Consider it your gateway to the outside. North Conway is a valley oasis, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a single spot without a mountain view. After you fuel up at one of the locally-owned coffee shops downtown, adventures await. Trailheads and shopping are mere steps away, with Echo Lake State Park a seven minute drive and Mt Washington Valley, thirty. Known for its world-renowned climbing routes, Diana’s Bath’s and public beaches along the Saco River, this is a place where you can swim, fish, hike, ski, bike and everything in between while being completely surrounded in jaw-dropping beauty. If you love to be outside, then North Conway is your spot.
Jackson
If you’ve ever seen a red covered bridge surrounded by gorgeous Autumn foliage, you have an idea of what awaits you in Jackson. It’s a quiet, peaceful village and you’ll see that come wintertime, it turns into a wonderland. Olympians train here and Jackson is known for its world-renowned cross country skiing area. There are two incredible golf courses; one situated right on the edge of Eagle Mountain. Home of the Jackson Cross Country Touring Co (a non-profit responsible for maintaining the trails), they also have 100km of trails through the White Mountain National Forest. Prefer snow-shoeing? You can do that too! In fact, you won’t find many outdoor activities you can’t do here or in one of the neighboring townships.
Madison
A town with an antique feel, Madison is home to centuries-old farmhouses, barns, chalets and waterfront properties. There are 4 bodies of water in this community: Crystal Lake (if you love swimming holes, don’t miss the rope swing here), Pea Porridge Pond, Small Pea Porridge and Big Pea Porridge. With no speedboats allowed, it’s an incredibly tranquil setting with lots of mountain views, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Madison Boulder is a 17-acre park with one of the largest glacial erratic boulders in the world. For those interested in investment properties, Edelweiss Village is a popular vacation spot.
Bartlett
Bartlett is packed with classic New England charm and outdoor adventures (as well as our suite’s namesake, the famous Arethusa Falls.)
At Bear Notch Ski Touring Center, you’ll find 65km of trails along the Saco River where you can snowshoe or X-country ski. There’s the top-rated Linderhof Golf Course, Northern Extreme Snowmobile Rentals (you can get right on the snowmobile corridor and ride all the way to Canada), and of course, year-round activities at Attitash Mountain Resort. If you love skiing, mountain biking, hiking, ziplining, alpine slides and other outdoor attractions, Bartlett will be a perfect fit.
